What 123SkipHire is
123SkipHire.com has listed UK skip hire companies since 2012. We are a directory, not a broker: we don't take a cut of your hire, mark up prices, or pass your details to a call centre. Every listing shows the firm's own phone number so you deal with them directly — local independents are usually cheaper than national brokers for exactly that reason.
Alongside the directory we publish reference guides researched from public sources:typical prices, skip sizes,council permit fees, and the annualUK Skip Hire Price Index.
How firms get verified
The original directory was compiled in 2012. In 2026 we rebuilt it from the ground up, checking every firm against four independent, public sources:
- The firm's own website — is it live, actually about skip hire, and not a parked domain?
- Companies House — is there an active registered company behind the name?
- The Environment Agency waste-carrier register — does the firm hold a current carrier licence?
- Google Places — is the business listed as operational at its address?
Each check that passes counts as one independent signal, and the signals decide how a firm appears:
- Verified — two or more independent signals confirm the firm is trading.
- Listed — one signal confirms it.
- Firms with no current signals are shown de-emphasised, and firms with evidence they've ceased trading (dissolved company, permanently closed) are removed from every page.
- A "Licensed" badge means the firm appears on the Environment Agency waste-carrier register. Always check any carrier holds a licence before you book — it's your legal duty of care for household waste.
Contact details prefer the firm's own published information: where a firm's website lists a phone number, that number wins over any third-party source. We never publish firms' email addresses. Checks were last run in July 2026 and are re-run periodically; every data point records where it came from.
Where the prices come from
Price bands are compiled from published UK price guides and cross-checked against quoted prices, kept deliberately broad, and labelled with the date they were last reviewed. Council permit fees are taken from each council's own published schedule with a review date on every figure — where we can't confirm a fee, we say so rather than guess.
